Fashion is not just the item covering your body or footwear!!
But it is the accessories that add to your items (clothing & footwear), most importantly it’s the things you add to your face. This doesn’t have to be a whole face of make-up. As a mom of two boys, (sic) men, I realize men are NOT necessarily attracted to a well made up face, moreso drawn to it. It’s like a bug in a darkened room, it will always find its way to the littlest of light.
Women and specifically women of color seem less likely to be wearing makeup when they are out now. I remember growing up though a different era, but women always had their lipstick on.
Recently I was in a store and I picked up lipstick, honestly it was only five dollars. That evening I was meeting my partner for dinner, so I thought I would put a bit of color on my lips as I always look so plain, in my opinion. When I got in the car he said, I like your lipstick. I actually was shocked. But I haven’t stopped putting on a splash of lipstick when I go out now. It makes a huge difference, especially in the confidence area.
Which brings me to the best fashion statement...confidence! No matter how you arrive there, it will always be a part of what leaves a lasting impression.
